Argentine restaurant Baires:
- in Corso Rinascimento, near Piazza Navona, and in Via Cavour near the Roman Forum and the Colosseum.
Baires opened in 1997 in Corso Rinascimento, and Baires in Via Cavour was set up in 2001: two authentic Argentine restaurants set up by the brothers and cousins fond of Rome but also of their origins. Family recipes along with traditional ones from their native city, Buenos Aires, are reproduced with extreme care in the two restaurants. The intention is to take the client on a tour of Argentina through its flavours and sounds.
Menu
Meals may start with appetizers, among which we recommend the empanadas, tasty beef and corn turnovers.
For the first course we suggest the soup of native vegetables, with potatoes, manioca, black beans and chick-peas; the particular pasta with tuco sauce made of apples, carrots, onions, celery and tomatoes, typical of the city of Buenos Aires. As tradition dictates, the second course based on meat allows the Argentine cuisine to be greatly represented, a final product made of excellent ingredients. Delicious grilled meat is served at Baires: beef, the famous Argentine angus, in fillet cuts, sirloin, entrecote, rump; or asado is also to be tried, the typical Argentine rib cuts, chianine beef in this case, Tuscan pork meat and the tasty Scottish lamb. Ample salad selection: including fried manioca.
For those who like to indulge in cakes, we would suggest the milk based cakes, such as the rum flavoured bread pudding, the dulce de leche and crème caramel.
A good selection of Argentine wines is available in the wine cellar; a biological home-made wine is produced.
Atmosphere
Both in Via Cavour and in Corso Rinascimento, Argentine music will delight guests during meals: tango and Argentine folklore plays until late at night.
Live music performances every night in Via Cavour from Monday to Thursday from 9.30pm to 11.30pm where tango is the undisputed attraction.
